One of the most challenging tasks for cryptocurrency investors is keeping track of their statement of financial position. Customers of certain US cryptocurrency exchanges receive Form 1099-K’s at first.

With complex wording, these forms produced a lot of anxiety among users, especially if it shows you owe a lot of money in taxes. It was not as it appeared, but many users were perplexed.

Users need to understand that It does not report your total earnings or losses because it is the gross amount exchanged! Your capital gains are the only ones that must get taxed.

Tip: I propose linking your account to CoinTracker to calculate your financial statement effectively.

Coinbase announced earlier in 2021 that they would no longer issue Form 1099-K since it gets never intended to be a form for cryptocurrency exchanges to avoid the complete 1099-K debacle and media outrage in favor of crypto investors.

Note: Keep in mind, though, that all of your crypto activity must still get declared on your year-end tax return by completing the 8949 and 1040 schedule. Even if you no longer get the 1099-K form, you will risk consequences if you do not comply.

Coinbase has three account tiers to choose from.

Users are automatically enrolled in the first account level when they first sign up for the site. Passing through the subsequent stages will require users to meet more criteria and have their account details verified.

Using a bank account or credit/debit card to buy and trade digital currencies is possible at level one, for example. Our investors at Online Cloud Security also know that it is possible to invest in infinite sums, transfer cash into and out of the Coinbase wallet, and keep USD in your Coinbase account at level two.

The third account level enables users to send and receive coins from other members of the cryptocurrency community. Personal information is required in order to access each account level on Coinbase.

Simple phone verification is all it takes to unlock level one of Coinbase’s two-step authentication. Level two can only be accessed if a user’s personal information has been verified.

Third-level access can only be gained by providing a valid ID. Starting on Coinbase can be confusing because of the different restrictions imposed on users. Coinbase places limits on the amount of cryptocurrency that can be purchased and then deposited back into a user’s bank account, depending on the method used.

There is a daily withdrawal limit of $25,000 from a Coinbase wallet that can be deposited into a bank account. Users who have attained level two can send up to $250,000 in one go via wire transfer.

Bitstamp was founded in 2011 by two Slovenian friends, Nejc Kodric and Damijan Merlak. To challenge Mt. Gox, Bitstamp was the first platform to do so .Mt. Gox was the most popular exchange in the early days of cryptocurrency trading. However, there were also security concerns. In June 2011, Mt Gox was breached, and by 2014, the company had gone bankrupt.

Safety and reliability were important considerations for Kodric and Merlak. They realized that users were looking for a secure exchange. Coins like Bitcoin are extremely secure, as is the blockchain technology that they’re founded on. They’re not always traded on the same exchanges. Bitstamp’s creators want to remedy the wrongs of the past. Bitstamp relocated some of its operations to London in 2013. As a result, Kodric and Merlak chose a location that was close to the financial hub of Europe. In contrast to this, the UK did not have the necessary legislation in place to govern the sale of digital money. The duo opined that the lack of regulation surrounding cryptocurrency trading was a major issue. This means that crypto exchanges had to observe too few rules. Those who follow the rules are regarded as trustworthy by consumers. So Bitstamp went out and found a country with rules!

Bitstamp became the world’s first licensed crypto exchange in April. Luxembourg’s banking regulations would apply to Bitstamp, as a result of this decision. Additionally, Bitstamp got licensed in 28 EU nations as a result of this change. Bitstamp and bitcoin both won big in this triumph.
