Acer Nitro 5 not charging

The Acer Nitro 5 series meet every budget gamer’s demands, but you cannot use it for long if the Acer Nitro 5 not charging. It might not be easy to find a compact notebook with sufficient gaming capability at an affordable price, but not when Acer Nitro 5 is available in the market. Compared to similar alternatives on the market, Acer laptops are often rather affordable. But does Acer sacrifice quality to reduce the price?

No, that is not the case; however, you could not experience the finest level of luxury since they need to find a way to save costs. So it does lack the frills or a stylish appearance but offers every feature you would expect from a standard gaming laptop.

By coincidence, Acer Nitro 5 is the laptop I’m using to write this article, and even when I first got it, I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t charging when I put it in for the first time.

Laptop Battery – Portability

Due to a multitude of features, laptops distinguish themselves from desktop PCs. The mobility of laptops, made possible by their open design specifications, is one of their advantages. However, due to today’s ubiquitous usage of laptop batteries, which are incredibly powerful and durable, this portability functionality is only available in laptops. According to publicly available information, the Acer Nitro 5 may run for up to 8 to 11 hours, giving you every chance. And they also have lithium-ion batteries which are available in most laptops today.

You can only do that if your laptop is fully charged and ready to use. The main concern for laptop users is when the battery dies, or the charger breaks down. Due to their short battery lives, gaming laptops are the most severely impacted, and the Acer Nitro 5 is no exception. You might want to take my comment as a valid one because, as I’ve already mentioned, I am currently using this laptop and love it, but it wouldn’t last very long without the power plug.

Many people have reported problems with Acer Nitro charging. So, if you suddenly encounter an issue with the Acer Nitro 5 charging, light not working, read on. The most common reason a laptop battery won’t charge is either a hardware issue or a software issue. However, the hardware is usually to blame in these situations. Before we rule anything out, let’s take a closer look at some of the below-mentioned repair options.

Acer Nitro 5 Not Charging: Common Problems

Try the following solutions if you start facing problems with the Acer Nitro 5 not charging. Few of these solutions are very easy, and it all goes down to hardware problems.

Plug in the Charging Cable Correctly (Only for New Laptops)

It was a terrific experience setting up the Acer Nitro 5 for the first time after I purchased it. But I had to connect in my charger while the charging was winding down, and soon after, the charging indicator didn’t glow. And I was asking myself the same question why Acer Nitro 5 charging, light not working, and searching all around for an answer.

But the solution was easy—I only needed to properly insert my charger’s pin. Because the charging pin port on your laptop has a lock, you should hear a sound when you plug it in. To resolve this problem, ensure the battery charging cord gets securely fastened in its holder and that the laptop’s contact points and the battery are working as intended. It is how the Acer Nitro charging port lock operates. You should hear a ticking sound, and you might need to double-press it to fix it correctly.

Well, this problem only arises when you charge your laptop for the first time and is not familiar with it. If your laptop is already functioning and having issues, go on to the next issue and its solution.

Checking the Charger and Chord

The hardware is most likely the major cause of the battery not changing. Hardware includes the converter and charging cord. The cable or adapter you use to charge your laptop generally breaks down after regular rigorous usage, and no matter what you do, it no longer charges the laptop. It may also be the case when you pull it out of a brand-new box. Therefore, if you experience an issue that is unrelated to the one stated above, see if your charging hardware is functioning properly.

You may check out the charger visually. Correct charging will be difficult if pins within the port are damaged or deformed. The only other option is to use a multimeter, and I’ll provide a link to a guide on how to do that, but in this situation, most of us don’t want to check it on our own. In this case, the best course of action is to check the Acer Nitro 5’s warranty date before taking it to a nearby service shop.

Bonus Tip: Put one probe in touch with the plug’s negative side and the other with the positive contact. You must match the voltage and amperage specified under “output” on the Acer Nitro 5’s adapter label. Anything won’t injure it, and you’ll receive the same reading either way if you touch the positive probe to the negative contact or vice versa. A YouTube instruction for accomplishing the same as in the link below

Note: Additionally, try plugging the laptop charger into other power outlets near where you are using the computer to see whether it charges. If so, there is a problem with the electrical outlet in your room. If not, you must examine the power cords to see whether or not they are defective, as discussed above.

Software Issues

When your Acer Nitro isn’t operating, there may also be a role for software issues. As an example, the Nitro button on my Acer is currently utterly useless and does not initiate Nitro Sence when pushed. Therefore, you may be having identical software issues. To undertake software troubleshooting, follow the procedures below, but remember that you should have at least some charge.

Step #1: Search for the Device Manager or choose it from the context menu that appears when you right-click the Start button to access it.

Step #2: Now here, click on the Batter portion within the list, and here you will see two items labeled Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. The OS uses ACPI to interact with the BIOS to power up various internal components.

Step #3: From this point, you may pick Uninstall device for both by right-clicking on each item. You don’t need to give removing it any thought because Windows OS will reinstall it for you automatically. You are primarily simply updating and checking the battery drivers on your laptop to see if they were the problem.

Step #4: Once the uninstallation is complete, turn off your laptop and disconnect the power cord.

Step #5: The batter may need to get removed next. The Acer Nitro 5 employs a built-in replaceable battery, although it is not readily apparent. Nevertheless, you can quickly open the rear cover and change the battery.

Note: You can attempt to skip this step, but it might not be successful. To remove the battery from my laptop, I should first attempt doing so without doing so; if it doesn’t work, you should try removing the bottom panel of my laptop.

Step #6: Put the battery back in if you took it out after removing it. Reconnect the laptop’s power supply and plug it in once more.

Step #7: Once the computer has started, check the battery icon in the right taskbar to see if the laptop is currently plugged in and charging.

If the problem is still not fixed, move to the next solution

Battery Issues

Battery problems can also prevent the battery from charging. The everyday life of a 48 Wh battery is likewise the average life of a lithium-ion battery in other gaming PCs. Most lithium-ion batteries that are more recent have a lifespan of roughly 2-3 years; once you have beyond this threshold, your battery may begin to lose charge and eventually fail.

Before, I advised buying new batteries or having them examined by a professional because it would be the only option if it’s dead. Let’s check whether resetting the bios and power settings would help if the Acer Nitro 5 won’t charge. Please follow the instructions below:

Step #1: Shut down the laptop and unhook or detach the charger, peripheral devices, and other wires attached to it.

Step #2: Since the Acer Nitro 5 does not have a removable battery, we must drain the battery to reset the device. The drain may need to get done differently.

Step #3: Restart the computer and press F2 while it’s on to access your bios settings.

Step #4: Now press F9 to bring up a window asking if you want to load the default BIOS settings. You can attest to it.

Step #5: Once you press F10, a save changes dialog will appear with yes or no options. Enter the key. To restart.

To ensure the system cannot be powered, press the power button. It verifies that the battery reset got carried out successfully. Next, you should put in the AC adapter, turn on the laptop, and check to see whether the windows battery charge symbol indicates the battery is charging when this gets finished.

Check whether the Acer Nitro 5 not turning on problem got fixed. If not, you most likely have the battery problems mentioned above. The battery, usage, and maintenance affect a laptop’s lifespan. As mentioned, batteries for laptops typically last between two and three years. However, the laptop battery’s performance deteriorates after 300-500 charges or roughly 1-2 years. You must swap out the battery for a new one when it begins to fail.

Laptop Hardware Issue

Metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor gets referred to as MOSFET. These electrical components may get found in laptops, and the most frequent defect is when a laptop won’t turn on. It contributes to the voltage regulator module’s construction and regulates the amount of voltage applied to other motherboard components. Similar issues were also experienced by the Acer Nitro 5, according to several users. Mofset keeps blowing up even after you fix it yourself; that is what occurs.

Therefore, if you are experiencing a similar problem and are certain that your hardware is to blame for the Acer Nitro 5’s charging problems. Taking it to your local Acer repair facility is the best solution. Acer offers a simple explanation for creating an online repair order if your Acer product has hardware issues.

Step #1: You need to Visit the Customer Self-Service site and Click the Contact Acer Service icon.

Step #2: You can enter the product’s SNID or Serial Number and press Enter.

Step #3: Here, verify the information, click Yes to complete the order, and you will receive an email confirmation with instructions for sending your computer for repair.

You can also contact Acer if you still face any problems.

Fixing the Acer Nitro 5 Not Charging Problem: Bottom Line

Although the Acer Nitro 5 is a powerhouse, you won’t be able to utilize it if there are power and charging concerns entirely. Because of the issues mentioned above and remedies, you may be able to resolve them on your own or at least recognize them.

The best course of action is to get in touch with the Acer service center, and if you have a warranty, it is the best method to obtain the finest assistance. You can try other inexpensive local retailers to get the problem rectified if you don’t have a warranty.
