F17 vs Helios 300 - History of Each Laptop

Asus TUF Dash F15 History

Acer was started in 1976 by Stan Shih Chen Jung and his pals with a $25,000 investment. They founded Multitech International, and they began by inventing hand-held electronic games before moving on to market semi-conductors that they had bought from poorer countries at a reduced cost.

Acer Inc. is a global electronics company located in Taiwan. Laptops, desktops, servers and stores, portable digital assistants (PDAs), accessories, and e-business solutions are among the company’s offerings for government, industry, educational, and home customers. After HP and Dell, Acer is the third biggest computer producer.

ASUS TUF Dash F15: Key Features

The all-new ASUS TUF Dash F15 packs a punch in a 19.9mm chassis. Gaming is seamless on a blistering 240Hz/3ms, 100 percent sRGB display, equivalent to an 11th Gen Intel® CoreTM i7 CPU and GeForce RTXTM 3070 GPU.

The all-new TUF Dash F15 is a Windows 10 Pro gaming laptop with a remarkably-slim design. Gaming runs smoothly on up to a blazing fast 240Hz display thanks to the newest Intel® CoreTM i7-11375H CPU and GeForce RTXTM 3070 GPU. Although 19.9mm thin, this TUF chassis satisfies MIL-STD toughness requirements and can withstand daily knocks and bumps. In addition, with a battery life of up to 16.6 hours, you can juggle more with a laptop that is compact enough to take with you wherever you go.

Acer Predator Helios 300: Key Features

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is similar to previous Acer Predators. It provides adequate features and functionalities at a reasonable price, but it has certain drawbacks.

The Helios 300 costs $1,699 and has a robust Intel Core i7-10750H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, a vibrant 15.6-inch 240Hz display, and a responsive keyboard. But, there is a thing: the battery capacity is limited, and the speakers are awful. While the Acer Predator Helios 300 (2021) was not one of the finest gaming laptops on the market, it is a terrific value if you intend on keeping connected and employing one of several excellent gaming headsets.

Design and Construction

Asus TUF Dash F15

The ASUS laptop has a beautiful design. Its width is barely 19.9 mm, as well as its weight is precisely 2.00 kg. Given these proportions, the gadget is relatively portable, particularly for hardware. Although the build components aren’t mentioned, we assume the entire laptop outside the shell comprises plastic. Luckily, both the lid and the base were sturdy enough to withstand my attempts to stretch them.

The lid lifts with one hand that is a pleasant touch; however, beyond 2020; I was disappointed to discover no Webcam was a must-have feature. Fortunately, the bezels are narrow all the way around. The TUF emblem, which rests in the lid’s corner, is located there, and the phrase mark is vertically positioned across the logo.

Acer Predator Helios 300

If you’ve ever encountered an Acer Predator laptop, you’ve probably heard of the Acer Predator Helios 300. The hood of this laptop is polished black metal featuring two blue brackets around the silver Predator emblem in the middle. The only distinguishing feature that makes this chassis appealing is the depth and darkness of the black on the hood.

The inside of the chassis is also dark black. The deck is characterized by a huge touchpad, an edge-to-edge keyboard, and a series of vents underneath the hinge. The margins on this Predator’s screen are hefty as usual.

The Helios 300 is a tad bulkier than most rivals, weighing 5.5 pounds and measuring 14.3 x 10 x 0.9 inches. It’s bigger than the Asus TUF Dash F15 (RTX 3070) (4.4 pounds, 14.2 x 10 x 0.8 inches).

Keyboard and Touchpad

A typical keyboard device is found on the ASUS. The translucent WASD keys are still present, displaying the keyboard’s scissor function, even if the Numpad has been removed for a more symmetric location. The typing interface is decent for typing but just average for gaming with moderate key length and clicky input. In addition to the Armory Crate, there are additional audio quick keys. The backlighting of the keyboard is RGB. The touchpad is rather precise, but there are no specific buttons.

Whereas the keyboard of the Acer Predator Helios 300 lacks those delightful clicks, the keys were nonetheless rather forceful, providing vital feedback on every pressing. The keyboard has four-zone RGB illumination, which you can modify via the PredatorSense app’s Lighting page. The lighting is adequate but stunning as an RGB-lit keyboard with individual keys. Furthermore, the lighting technology is rudimentary.

The touchpad is nice. However, it can get sticky at times. It also has a good click, although the gap between the deck and the touchpad is a little too wide for my taste.

Ports

The charge plug, an RJ-45 connection, an HDMI 2.0b connector, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, a Thunderbolt 4 connector, as well as an audio jack are all located on the left side of the ASUS laptop. In addition, there are two more USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) connectors on the right.

Onboard the Acer Predator Helios 300, there are a good number of connectors. A Kensington lock slot, one Ethernet port, two USB Type-A ports, as well as a headphone jack, may all be found on the left side of the device. A Mini DisplayPort, one HDMI port, one USB Type-A port, and one USB Type-C port are located on the right side.

Predator Helios 300 vs ASUS TUF Dash F15 Display Quality_

Predator Helios 300 vs ASUS TUF Dash F15: Display Quality

The Dash F15 comes with three different display options, all having a 15.6-inch diagonal. A Full HD IPS screen with a 240Hz refresh rate is on the left, accompanied by a QHD IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the panel in our test unit was Full HD with a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio, a pixel density of – 142 PPI, with a pixel density of – 142 PPI. If seen from a range of 60cm (24′′) or more, the screen becomes Retina (the eye ceases distinguishing the individual pixels at this point, which is usual when gazing at a laptop).

The Acer Predator Helios 300’s 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel display is vibrant and brilliant for a popular gaming laptop. It also has a 240Hz refresh rate display that ensures that games run smoothly. As per my colorimeter, the Helios 300 encompassed 73.7 percent of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, which is higher than the 66.3 percent average for popular gaming laptops. Unfortunately, it lacked the vibrancy of the TUF Dash F14 (77.9%),

Battery

I conducted the battery testing with the Windows Better performance option enabled, the screen brightness set to 150 cd/m2. And all other apps save the one I am testing disabled. A 76Wh battery is included with the ASUS gadget. With a capacity of 52Wh, the MSI laptop’s battery is lighter. ACCORDING TO THE TEST FINDINGS, the ASUS TUF Dash F15 sustained 14 hours and 56 minutes of Web surfing and 11 hrs and 11 minutes of video playing.

In the Wi-Fi test, the 15.6-inch monitor reaches runtimes of 6:26 hours and 6:46 hours, correspondingly, in the Wi-Fi test. The laptop’s power-saving capabilities are turned off during both testing, and the screen brightness is adjusted at around 150 cd/m2. Furthermore, during the video test, the wireless modules are turned off.

Price and Availability

In terms of gaming laptops, the Asus TUF Dash F15 and Acer Predator Helios 300 are some of the best ones on the marketplace right now that aren’t too expensive. Of course, such top-end specifications will cost you at least around $1,300-$1,500 based on where you buy it and where it’s in inventory, but upgrading to an i5 or a 3060 will still save you money at the cost of efficiency.

Acer Predator Helios 300

Helios 300 vs TUF Dash F15: Comparison Verdict

The Acer Predator Helios 300 17′′ offers a somewhat faster CPU in terms of performance.

The ASUS TUF Dash F15 features a superior graphics card for showing graphics.

The screen of the Predator Helios 300 is more extensive. On the other hand, TUF Dash F15 is lighter portability.

The ASUS TUF Dash F15 is less expensive.

Final Thoughts on this Laptop Comparison

It’s difficult to pick a winner here because TUF Dash F15 and Predator Helios 300 gadgets have unique pros and cons.

Compared to the other laptops I’ve examined, Acer’s gaming laptop performs admirably and produces average frame rates. There is still space for development in terms of performance. The battery life is more than enough. Despite having comparable battery capacity, the Predator outperforms its sibling model in most real-world performance testing.

The display (Full HD, IPS, and 240 Hz) has a matte surface, rapid reaction times, accurate color rendition, and good color-space coverage. The color and contrast, on the other hand, should be increased. The appropriate goals are just missed. Because the ASUS has more display alternatives, you might be able to locate a nice unit with near-100 percent sRGB coverage plus standard color reproduction.

But in my opinion, the ASUS TUF Dash F15 might be a viable alternative to the Predator Helios 300. In terms of pricing, it’s comparable to the Acer laptop, but it has a faster CPU. Therefore, if I must be truthful, I favor the TUF Dash F15 (FX516performance)’s battery capacity since it allows for more efficiency than its opponent. So from my end this will be a truthful comparison between TUF Dash F15 and Predator Helios 300.
